What do we do at the marriage retreats?Over 60% of your time at the marriage retreats will be down time, just for you and your spouse. You can relax at the main house, explore the city, chill in the hot tub, go for a hike, ride the zip lines, and much, much more. This time is for you. Most of the days we will have a morning session and lunch, and then we take a 5-hour break, where you as a couple can do whatever you want. We all meet back for dinner and have one evening session. Finally, one of the days will only have a morning session, and the rest of the day is just for you and your spouse.
-
What are the sessions like? The marriage retreat sessions are set in small group format, where we relax in a casual environment and discuss specific marital topics, such as a Christ-centered marriage, communicating through differences, building trust, managing conflict, and growing deeper in intimacy. The sessions are designed for group discussion and several husband-and-wife private conversations. While the informal setting allows for questions and challenges to be discussed, we also want fun and laughter to be a part.
-
How many couples will be there? The number of couples will vary, but our intention is to keep the groups moderately small. We want to create safe spaces for couples to share and learn together. The number can range from 4 couples up to 10 couples. With larger groups, we will break into smaller groups for discussion, so we can preserve the more intimate setting. If you have a preference, we may be able to place you in a retreat with smaller or larger numbers to best suit you. This is not guaranteed, but we are happy to address the need with you.
-
Is there any pre-work?The only thing we ask you to do beforehand is to do a DiSC assessment. This is a personality profile that you and your spouse will do. The assessment takes about 15 minutes to complete. When you get to the retreat, we highlight key areas for you and your spouse to focus, and we provide you a compatibility report that helps you work through communication challenges.
-
What kind of food will you have?We have volunteer chefs who will be preparing each meal. — We offer a full-service hot breakfasts with a variety of options. — For lunches, we provide a variety of freshly made sandwiches, fruit, chips, and desserts. — Finally, we offer full-service dinners such as BBQ, Mexican or Italian dinners, grilled steak and chicken with a variety of vegetables and sides. — Coffee, snacks, and drinks will also be provided. Before you come, we will discuss any food allergies and accommodations needed for each person.
-
What should we bring? We will send you a detailed list of items that you may want to bring with you, but mainly you would just pack like you would for any 4-day getaway in the mountains.
-
Do you provide transportation to and from the retreat? No, you will be responsible for all transportation to and from retreat.
-
